Fed up with persistently chubby cheeks?
If you're currently a healthy weight, or have lost weight in the past, but still find you have stubborn fat in your face, buccal fat removal may be the solution. The buccal fat pad sits in the hollow area of the cheek and in some people, is naturally larger in size. This can give the appearance of an overly round face, even if the rest of you is slim. Unfortunately, it can be very hard to naturally lose weight from this area, however, surgery to remove the fat pad can help. Our aestheticians in our Greenhithe, Dartford clinic can help you find out if this procedure is right for you. Contact us today to find out more.
Buccal fat removal - the details
How is the fat removed?
We’ll make a small incision near your gums to remove the fat pad from the inside of your mouth. This won’t leave a visible scar and helps the area to heal quickly. The stitches we use will dissolve on their own.
How long is the procedure and is there any downtime?
The treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic and usually takes around an hour. You’ll be able to go home after the procedure and resume normal activities the next day. As there will be incisions made in your mouth we recommend eating soft foods only for around a week and using a good quality mouthwash after each meal to help keep the area clean.
Is this a permanent treatment?
Yes, removal of the fat pad is permanent. However, we advise that the shape of your face will naturally change as you age or fluctuate in weight.
Can anyone have their buccal fat pad removed?
It’s important not to remove too much of the fat pad from your face as this can cause a gaunt and hollow looking appearance as you age. Some people may not have enough of a fat pad to justify surgery. We’ll have an initial consultation with you first to check we can offer you the desired results and ensure this option is right for you.
How much does buccal fat removal cost?
This treatment costs £2500.
